Designed by the architect Piero Lissoni in 2008, its form was influenced by traditional Middle Eastern seating of the Majlis, a culturally important low-rise cushioned space designed for social gatherings. A contemporary version of this centuries-old tradition, Extrasoft delivers compositions of luxuriously soft low geometric blocks to create an undulating upholstered landscape while taking the sofa in the direction of abstract expressionism.
