A favourite of interior designers world-wide, the Camaleonda (a cross between the two Italian words for ‘Chameleon’ and ‘wave’) created by Mario Bellini in 1970 for B&B Italia, had become a rare and highly sought after vintage item until its recent reissue. Totally true to the original design, the reissue uses the same generous polyurethane padding to create the design’s characteristic softly rounded grid-like form. The innovative system of cables, hooks and rings developed for the sofa in the Seventies is also maintained and its these that allow the sofa to adapt to the evolving tastes and dynamic needs of its users. Unlimited modularity is a concept close to Bellini’s heart: “Of all the objects I have designed, Camaleonda is perhaps the best in terms of its sense of freedom’.
